Support Group for People suffering from Heart Diseases

I am 26 years old and just found out I have ASD. Due to the size of it, I will likely need open heart surgery to repair it. I haven't received many details about my condition yet or the surgery because I am being sent to a different cardiologist at a different hospital due to my size (I am not quite "adult" size -- only 4'10", 90-something lbs. -- so they want to make sure I'm seen by doctors who specialize in both pediatric and adult...).

So in the meantime, while I await my appointment, I've been searching online for information, which I know can lead to some questionable information of course. However, my main dilemma is nearly everything I come across on ASD is aimed at parents and focuses on infants/children. If anyone happens to know of a respectable source for information for adults with ASD, either online or in book form, could you let me know? I am really interested in the surgery process as well. I know I can just ask all the questions I have in a week and half at my appointment, but I really would like to educate myself as much as possible in the meantime, mainly because it eases my mind.

Also I'd really like to hear anyone's own personal accounts, either with ASD or open heart surgery.

Thanks

Oh, and hi! I'm new :)

Dear Friend

I can suggest you if you send me medical investigation reports

Hi Sydney,

If you can forward me your medical record, i maybe of help to provide you with optimal diagnosis and treatment infor for your reference.

Btw, I'm working at the biggest heart center in China, as the assistant to the director of the center, who is also the president of the Chinese Association for Cardiovascular Surgeons.  If possible, i may have your conditions be reviewed by him or any of his clinical assistants so that you can get a confirmative answer to your questions.

Regards,

Andy
