Mitral Valve Prolapse with Moderate Regurgitation

Hello Everyone, I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse with most moderate regurgitation last Aug.2 2011. My symptoms are chest pain, dizziness and palpitations. My cardiologist said he didn't hear any murmur on my chest when he put the stethoscope and my ECG is normal also. I was wondering why there is no "murmur" heard on my chest when in fact the regurgitation was most moderate. The ultrasound of hte heart detected it. My cardiologist said its not life threatening and he gave me Atenolol 50 mg to be taken twice a day. I am also a hypertensive person. But my BP is controlled  ranging only from 110/70 to 130/80... I have so many questions to be ask to my cardio.. but everytime I ask him he will say don't worry it's not life threatening.. i'm not satisfied with his answer. Can anyone shed a light on me. Will my MVP cause me to have a valve replacement sooner?.. Do I need to change my cardiologist?... What sort of management will I do to make my heart function well. Every details of my heart valve are normal including the size. Only the anterior mitral leaflet is redundant and thickened which prolapses to LA.... Thank you.... MISS D from Philippines.
