Heart disease runs in my family but till now I had thought it was only the men. Many of the men from my Fathers side of our family had heart attacks and several died. My Brother had his first heart attack at around 30 years old. So, for years I ignored the signs of an impending heart attack. I had financial problems at the same time and was afraid to buy my medications consistantly. To me it's a tragic mistake made from ignorance and fear.
I know now that the high blood pressure medication is one of the 4.00 per month medications. I was never told. I purchased my medications from Walgreen's ; I was never informed that instead of my $20 to $25. copay could be eliminated by buying a generic for 4.00.
I was not informed that women suffer from heart disease as much as or more than a man. Now you hear it almost everday on commercials etc....
I also took celebrex off and on for several years. I took it the 6 weeks preceding my heart attack. My prescribing Doctor at the time didn't think it would be a problem.
For a year before my heart attack I had chest pain shoulder and back pain. My left arm is the first thing I notice hurting when my heart attack began. It quickly moved to include my chest or heart.
I was wondering if anyone else in our group had any of these problems which were over looked. Please let me know. Thank you, Debby
